Challenge
The app was an initial MVP developed without taking into account design efficiencies. It had a cluttered interface and outdated UI, making it difficult for users to navigate and find essential features. The founder believed a stronger design input was needed before raising a pre-seed round. With the aim of boosting the potential valuation given their stage (pre-money).
Results
The redesigned app features a clean, clutter-free interface, making it easier for users to navigate and access essential features.
We improved the onboarding, core functionalities and in-app marketplace features.

Process
Research & Analysis: We conducted in-depth stakeholder interviews to understand the current struggles and future opportunities. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights on similar products.
Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, we restructured the app's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.
Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design as well as high fidelity key screens to be used on pitch decks.
Visual Design, Style Guide & Design System: We developed a cohesive visual language, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app. We also created a style guide to maintain design consistency in future updates. In addition to that, we create a bespoke design system which the team was able to leverage from day one.

The Expect platform redesign successfully addressed the usability issues, resulting in a more intuitive and user-friendly experience. The improved UX/UI design led to increased user adoption, engagement, and satisfaction. This was also key to demonstrate the full value of the product which then led to the win of the first large enterprise client as well as the first pre-seed raise of £750,000.
